The Great Advocate of Liberty
I am twenty five years old physically, eleven spiritually, and now one politically. To celebrate a year of eye opening, hair raising, head exploding political involvement, I am posting a bunch of quotes I found while preparing for my first public exercise of my constitutional rights on 9/12 in Washington D.C.. Enjoy.
"All tyranny needs to gain a foothold is for people of good conscience to remain silent."
"A government big enough to give you everything you want, is strong enough to take everything you have... the course of history shows that as a government grows, liberty decreases."
"The democracy will cease to exist when you take away from those who are willing to work and give to those who would not."
"To compel a man to subsidize with his taxes the propogation of ideas which he disbelieves and abhors is sinful and tyrannical."
"When the people fear the government, there is tyranny. When the government fears the people, there is Liberty."
"The strongest reason for people to retain and bear arms is, at last resort, to protect themselves against a tyrannical government."
"I predict a future of happiness for Americans if they can prevent the government from wasting the labors of the people under the pretense of taking care of them."
"The issue today is the same as it has been throughout all history, whether man shall be allowed to govern himself or be ruled by a small elite."
~The Great Advocate of Liberty, Thomas Jefferson.
